Ingredients
- 3 slices tomato
- 2 Bacon strips (cooked to just crispy)
- 1 clove garlic (sliced “Goodfellas” thin)
- 1 large scallions (sliced)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 ounces Gruyere (grated)
- 2 ounces Velveeta Queso Blanco (cut in 3/4 inch cubes)
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened to room temp)2 slices hearty multigrain bread
- 2 slices hearty multigrain bread
- Generous sprinkles of kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat a frying pan on medium high heat for 5 minutes
- Fry bacon, set aside
- Sauté onion and garlic. Set aside
- Butter both sides of the bread. Flip one slice, butter side down and then add:
- - Real Cheese
- - Velveeta
- - Tomato
- - Garlic
- - Onion
- - Bacon
- - Salt & pepper
- Top with the second slice (butter side up)
- Place in the preheated frying pan and cook for 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until you have a good char on top and bottom
- Place the sandwich on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil
- (The above can be done one hour in advance)
- Ten minutes before serving place in a 380 degree oven for 5 minutes
- Slice into wedges, sticking each wedge with a toothpick
- Serve
